ANDREAS BORGEAS, JD, PhD
POLITICAL EXPERIENCE
Andreas Borgeas is principal of the California Strategy Group LLC, an integrated strategic advisory and advocacy practice. His background includes expertise in politics, law, and commercial affairs.
With over fifteen years in elected and appointed politics, Borgeas has experience in every level of government - local, state, national, and international - including as a California State Senator, where he served as Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee and Vice-Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and as a federally appointed commissioner on the US-China Economic & Security Review Commission.
Foreign Experience
He has foreign experience in numerous professional capacities, including as a Fulbright Scholar, Marshall Memorial Fellow, Contributing Fellow for the Woodrow Wilson Center, Policy Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan, member of the US-China Commission, and CEO of the Greece-Africa Power (GAP) subsea electrical interconnection.
He conducted his graduate and doctoral field research in, and published extensively on, China and the neighboring Central Asian Republics, receiving graduate degrees from Harvard University, Georgetown Law School, and Panteion University of Political Sciences.
Legal Experience
Borgeas is licensed to practice law in California and Washington, DC. Following his legal education, he clerked for a federal district judge and practiced international law at Luce Forward in San Diego before entering academia and public service. For over a decade he was a professor of international law and security affairs at the San Joaquin College of Law in Clovis and an adjunct professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey.
